Kelly Corrigan: Welcome back to “Kelly Corrigan Wonders.” Today, I’m honored to have the iconic supermodel, Cindy Crawford, joining me for a deeply personal conversation. Cindy, thank you for being here.
Cindy Crawford: Thank you for having me, Kelly. It’s a pleasure to be here.
They exchange warm smiles before Kelly takes a more serious tone.
Kelly Corrigan: Cindy, you’ve recently opened up about the loss of your brother, Jeffrey, at such a young age. Could you share with us what that experience was like for you and your family?
Cindy nods, her expression turning introspective.
Cindy Crawford: Losing Jeffrey was one of the most difficult things my family and I have ever faced. He was only three years old when he passed away from leukemia. And being the oldest sister, I felt a tremendous weight of responsibility.
She pauses, her voice softening with emotion.
Cindy Crawford: You see, our dad had always wanted a son. When Jeffrey was born, he was overjoyed. But when Jeffrey fell ill and eventually passed away, it was like our dad’s dreams shattered. And for us girls, it felt like we should’ve been the ones to go instead.
Kelly reaches out a hand in support, her eyes reflecting empathy.
Kelly Corrigan: That must have been incredibly difficult to bear, Cindy. How did you cope with those feelings of guilt and loss?
Cindy takes a deep breath, composing herself before responding.
Cindy Crawford: It took years, Kelly. Years of therapy, of talking with my family, and of course, time. But what helped me the most was realizing that it wasn’t anyone’s fault. Not mine, not my sisters’, and certainly not my dad’s. It was just a tragic twist of fate.
Her words resonate with Kelly, who nods in understanding.
Kelly Corrigan: It’s so important to recognize that sometimes life deals us these heartbreaking hands, and all we can do is find ways to carry on. Cindy, thank you for sharing such a personal part of your life with us today.
Cindy offers a small smile, her eyes reflecting a sense of catharsis.
Cindy Crawford: Thank you, Kelly. If my story can help even just one person out there who’s struggling with similar feelings, then it’s worth it.
They share a moment of quiet understanding before the recording ends.
